12 women from NT & DNTS, SC, OBC and ST communities are trained and mentored by ECONET to indentify and address the gender inequalities within the NT & DNT and tribal communities. Women empowerment in the areas of political participation at the local government/village panchayats, economic employment and livelihoods, health and access to health services / medical care incl reproductive health care, violence against women in public & domestic sphere and self awareness among the womenfolk about their identities, freedoms and opportunities as a full & equal citizens of India. Pune, Ahilyanagar, Yavatmal, Nanded, Jalgaon, Sangli, Kolhapur and Thane are the districts where the women leaders are actively working with local women in nearly 20 villages. Formation of support groups and women collectives are the core strategies practised by the women leaders.
