Environment Sustainability
ECONET works in 55 villages of 7 districts – Ahilyanagar (ahmednagar), Nasik, Palghar, Nandurbar, Yavatmal, Nanded and Amaravati with a team of 11 men and women. They are guided by three experienced team members of ECONET Team. In the areas that ECONET working the challenge faced by the local tribal is of energy security deficit, and that is further affected by the decreasing agricultural sustenance of the tribal society. With the growing migration during and off the agricultural season is becoming reality of the above 55 villages in the Scheduled V areas where both forest right legislation and PESA ensured security of natural resources and an autonomous life. ECONET is working with the marginal farmers of the tribal society adapt to the climate changes and inculcate the practice and technique of sustainable agriculture. Along with this the field team is mobilizing women and youth to learn climate resilient practices that would enable the tribal community to become self reliant and to enhance their livelihood. The seed bank and conservation of indigenous varieties of crops, plants and millets promote bio diversity conservation and encourage the tribal to look beyond immediate monetary benefits of the natural resources around.
